Company history

The processing and mining factory was founded by Gustav Schade in 1880 as a small forge and locksmith business at Löwenstrasse 6 . Already at the time of the First World War , over 100 people were employed at the "Friedrich-Wilhelm" block. After the war, the new plant in Schüren was built. The company was connected to the Phoenix-Ost operating division of Hoesch AG via a rail link and obtained steel from there.

During the Second World War , the factory was a manufacturer of weapons, ammunition and equipment. In the event of an air raid , a tunnel , which has now been filled, served as protection for employees a few hundred meters away. In 1950 there were 400 employees.

In 2001 the company was taken over by the Aumund Group . With the exception of the former head office, the plants were demolished in 2006 and the site was prepared for residential development. Since autumn 2007, the site has mainly been built with single-family houses, the newly created streets on the site are called Gustav-Schade-Weg and Lorenweg . The Schmidt engineering office is located in the former headquarters. leads.
