Gustav Werther
August Friedrich Gustav Werther (born August 1, 1815 in Roßla ; † June 29, 1869 in Königsberg i. Pr. ) Was a German chemist and university professor in Königsberg.
Life
After receiving his doctorate in Berlin (1843), Werther worked as an amanuensis with Eilhard Mitscherlich in Berlin. He then worked as a chemistry teacher at the artillery and engineering school in Berlin. In 1853 he was appointed associate professor at the University of Königsberg. From 1853 he published Erdmann's Journal for practical chemistry. In 1859 Werther was appointed full professor of chemistry in Königsberg. In 1867/68 he was Vice President of the University of Königsberg.
