Gustave Jean Jacquet
Gustave Jean Jacquet (born May 25, 1846 in Paris ; † July 12, 1909 there ) was a French painter .
Jacquet was a student of William Adolphe Bouguereau , who had devoted himself to academic realism and thus to classical realism . In 1865, with the support of his teacher, Jacquet was able to make his debut with his allegory of humility and sadness on the occasion of the great exhibition of the Paris Salon .
Jacquet's artistic success went hand in hand with financial success, so that he was able to afford long, extended study trips to and through Italy, Germany and England. In his work there are remarkable portraits as well as skilful examples of genre painting .
