Gustavo Rodríguez Rollero

Gustavo Rodríguez Rollero (born June 12, 1963 in Iguará, Yaguajay, Sancti Spíritus Province ) is a Cuban politician of the Communist Party of Cuba PCC (Partido Comunista de Cuba) , who has been Minister of Agriculture in the Cuban Council of Ministers since 2010 .

Life

Rodríguez Rollero began studying agricultural science at the Universidad Central de Las Villas in Santa Clara after attending school . At the 2nd Congress of the Federation of University Students FEU ( Federación Estudiantil Universitaria ) , he was elected President of the FEU in the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences in 1982. In 1983 he became the representative of the FEU in the Communist Youth Union UJC ( Unión de Jóvenes Comunistas ) and in 1984 took part in the First National Meeting of Agricultural Scientists. In 1986 he took part in a six-month research stay for tropical studies in the province of Matanzas . In 1986 he completed his studies as an agricultural engineer and took up a position as chief engineer in the sugar factory CAI " Osvaldo Herrera ". He was then agricultural sub-director and finally director of this factory.

Rodríguez Rollero, who in 1988 became a member of the Communist Party of Cuba PCC (Partido Comunista de Cuba) , began his political career as a member of the Office of the PCC's Party Committee in Santo Domingo . He was a delegate at the V Party Congress in 1997 and at the VI. Party Congress 2011. After he was provincial minister for agriculture (Delegado Provincial de la Agricultura) of the province Villa Clara , he became vice minister for agriculture and then vice minister for sugar. In 2008 he became First Vice Minister for Agriculture.

Rodríguez Rollero, who is also a member of the National Assembly of People's Power ( Asamblea Nacional del Poder Popular ) , took over the post of Minister of Agriculture (Ministro de Agricultura) on June 11, 2010 as the successor to Ulises Rosales del Toro . As such, he was instrumental in initiating the transformation of Cuban agriculture and the process of renewing the Cuban economic model in order to ensure the food of the population.
