Gut Stockhausen is a manor in the Stockhausen district of Meschede in the Hochsauerlandkreis .

history

The estate was the ancestral seat of the Westphalian noble family Stockhausen . It was first mentioned in a document in 997 as the center of around 20 courtyards. Otto III. Outlaws the previous owner Hunoldus and transfers the Schultenhof Stockhausen to the Meschede monastery . According to legend, Hunoldus was executed with twenty sons, only the youngest son survived.

In the 14th century, the Oberhof was subject to 22 estates. The rise of the estate began in the 16th century with Ludwig von Stockhausen, who worked for the Landdrost of the Duchy of Westphalia , Kaspar von Fürstenberg , as rentmaster and geographer . With his marriage, Ludwig von Stockhausen acquired a large estate. His family later assumed a noble position by marriage and managed to have the Stockhausen estate recognized as a manor at the beginning of the 19th century.
