Guttmacher Institute
The Guttmacher Institute is a US non-profit organization based in Washington and works as a research institution and policy organization in the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights in the US and worldwide.
history
In 1968, the Center for Family Planning Program Development was established as an independent division of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA). The director of the PPFA, Alan Frank Guttmacher, promoted the development of the center. In 1977 the institute became independent, got its own board and its current name.
Since 2010 the institute has been a cooperation partner of the World Health Organization and its American regional organization, the Pan American Health Organization .

The institute has offices in New York and Washington with around 120 employees. In 2018, the institute had revenues of $ 10.2 million, expenses of $ 24.5 million, and equity of $ 64.2 million.
In 2018, 80% of the funds were used for content-related tasks, 65% of which went to research.
aims
The institute advocates universal access to information and services, as well as granting and equalizing rights in order to avoid unplanned pregnancies and prevent and treat sexually transmitted diseases. It advocates the right to properly performed abortion, health care during pregnancy and childbirth. Family planning is seen as a key element in promoting maternal, infant and child health. Political initiatives with this aim are supported.
