Michael Stimpel

Michael Stimpel  (born October 2, 1950  in  Braunschweig ) is a German physician and professor of internal medicine at the University of Cologne.

Life

Michael Stimpel, son of the lawyer Walter Stimpel , studied medicine at the Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg, at the Psychiatric University Clinic where he became Dr. med. received his doctorate. He completed his scientific and clinical training at the Max Planck Institute for Immunobiology in Freiburg as well as at the University Hospitals in Zurich and Cologne, the Hannover Medical School, and at the Saarland Institute for Training and Further Education in Psychotherapy (SIAP). In 1992 Stimpel completed his habilitation at the University of Cologne, received the venia legendi (habilitation) for the subject of internal medicine and was appointed associate professor in 1998. From 2000 to 2016, Stimpel held positions as chief physician and medical director at acute and rehabilitation clinics, most recently at the Paul Ehrlich Clinic in Bad Homburg. Stimpel has been working as a medical expert, business coach and medical psychotherapist with a focus on psychocardiology in Düsseldorf since 2017.

Stimpel has been teaching at the University of Cologne since 1992 and at the Saarland Institute for Education and Training in Psychotherapy (SIAP) since 2012. From 2005 to 2015 he also taught at the Saarland University in Homburg.

Stimpel's scientific and clinical work focuses on diseases of the cardiovascular system. He has published numerous publications on this.
