Guy Michaud

Guy Michaud (born June 30, 1911 in Paris , † December 17, 2006 in Sèvres ) was a French Romance studies , literary scholar and cultural scientist.

life and work

Michaud completed his habilitation in 1946 at the Sorbonne with the Thèses Message poétique du symbolisme (3 vols., Paris 1947–1955, 1961, 1969, 1978) and La Doctrine symboliste. Documents (Paris 1955 as part of the previous publication). He founded the French Institute of the University of Istanbul and published the journal Dialogues there from 1949 . Cahiers de littérature et de linguistique . In 1951 he founded (under the rector Joseph-François Angelloz ) the European Institute of the Saarland University and was its first director. In the Faculté des lettres et sciences humaines at the University of Paris-Nanterre , founded in 1965 , he established a Center d'étude des civilizations . He was involved in the May riots at his university and wrote a book about it. He later published the Classiques Roma and Faire le point series at the Hachette publishing house .
