Guy Penrod (born July 2, 1963 in Abilene , Texas ) is an American gospel and Christian music singer, who became known as the singer of the Gaither Vocal Band .

biography

Penrod grew up in a pastoral family in the southwestern United States. He studied music and singing at Liberty University in Lynchburg . He then worked for a short time as a music teacher at a Christian school in Atlanta before moving to Nashville as a professional musician .

In the music metropolis, he worked as a studio singer for numerous well-known country and gospel musicians and appeared regularly on the TV program Music City Tonight .

In 1994 he became the lead singer of the Gaither Vocal Band . The band's most successful period began with eight top 10 albums with his participation.

He remained a defining voice in Bill Gaithers band for 14 years before taking a break in 2008 and finally going into business for himself and starting a solo career. His solo debut Breathe Deep was released in 2010 and reached the top 10 of the Christian charts.
