The Rahnstätter Hof was a Dominalhof near Aarbergen - Michelbach in the Rheingau-Taunus district . It is a total desolation from the 19th century. The farm was first mentioned in a document in 1194–98 and released for dissolution and demolished in 1870.

Location and description

The farm had its own district. Most recently, this consisted of around 38 hectares of arable land and meadows as well as around 44 hectares of forest, which were incorporated into the Michelbach district after it was dissolved. The arable land was completely afforested and remained together with the forest in the Prussian state ownership. It is therefore a state forest to this day. If you take a closer look at the forests, some of the former arable land can still be seen locally. All that remains of the courtyard is an open space of around 100 by 100 m, on which a well has been reconstructed and a display board provides information about the former homestead. Another board from 2010 in the "Wickenstück" forest department provides information on even older arable land that was already there at the time the farm was closed. In 2009 geoarchaeological investigations took place there. According to this, around 95,000 tons of soil material was removed or relocated in the former area of the Rahnstätter Hof due to anthropogenic erosion, mainly during modern times . The Hennethaler Landwehr is located near the Rahnstätter Hof . The paths between the two monuments are signposted.

Monument protection

The area of the courtyard is a ground monument according to the Hessian Monument Protection Act . Investigations and targeted collection of finds are subject to approval, and accidental finds are reported to the monument authorities.
