Guy de Maligny

Guy de Martigny was bishop of Lausanne from 1134 until his deposition in 1143/44 .

Life

Guy came from the Burgundian nobility. He was first mentioned in 1132 as archdeacon of the cathedral chapter of Besançon . He became Bishop of Lausanne in 1134. Guy promoted the Cistercian monasteries , he founded the Abbey of Hautcrêt in 1134 and promoted the establishment of the Priory of Berlai. Documents show him several times in the vicinity of the Archbishop of Besançon. He was removed from office in 1143 or 1144.
