Guya Merkle
Guya Merkle (* approx. 1986 ) is a German entrepreneur, jewelry designer and environmental activist . In 2013 she founded the VIERI brand , which only uses fair trade or recycled gold as raw material.
Her grandfather Rudolf Merkle († 1965) founded a jewelry wholesale company in Pforzheim in the late 1930s . He was married to the Italian Eva Gaietta, a relative of the royal family de la Serra. After the company's founder died, his 17-year-old son Eddy Vieri († 2007) took over the company and relocated it to Switzerland . Thanks to the fashionable designs of his wife Kate, a Belgian theater scholar, the company received orders from Japan and the United Arab Emirates in the 1980s . When the father died unexpectedly, the then 21-year-old Guya Merkle took over the company and completely reorganized it according to her own ideas. Her customers now also include Rihanna and Emma Watson .
In order to campaign for consumer education, sustainable improvement of production conditions and the fair trade certification of gold mines, Guya Merkle founded the "Earthbeat Foundation". Since 2018, Guya Merkel has also been involved in the wearness , an online marketplace for ethically correct luxury.
