The national humanistic grammar school Kyrill und Method ( Bulgarian Солунската българска мъжка гимназия "Св. Св. Кирил и Методий" ) is the oldest grammar school in Blagoevgrad ( Bulgaria ).
history
Today's grammar school was founded in Thessaloniki in 1880 by the Bulgarian community under the name of the Bulgarian School for Men "Cyril and Method" . Support was provided by the Bulgarian exarchate and Metodi Kusewitsch. She was financially supported by the Exarchate, the Bulgarian community in Thessaloniki, Prince Aleksandar Bogoridi and other Bulgarians from Macedonia.
After the Balkan Wars of 1912/1913, the school was driven from Thessaloniki and in 1920 moved to Blagoevgrad via Strumica with its teachers and students. The high school “Dr. Petar Beron ” from Adrianople , which was moved to Swilengrad .
The school has given its name to the Solun Glacier (Solun = Thessaloniki) in the Antarctic since 2010, after its founding location .
School concept
German, English, French and Spanish are taught as first and second foreign languages at the grammar school. The students learning German take part in various international projects, such as with Finland, the Bild project, and the project with the French school "De Golle" from Sierk.
