The Bundesgymnasium Oberschützen as BG / BRG / BORG in the municipality of Oberschützen in the Oberwart district is the oldest grammar school in Burgenland . The school building is a listed building .
history
In 1846 the Protestant pastor Gottlieb August Wimmer (1791–1863) founded a Protestant grammar school.
In 1911 the grammar school was able to move into its own newly built school building.
When Austria was annexed in 1938, the evangelical private school was expropriated and nationalized. During the Second World War, the school building was used as a hospital and was partly destroyed by acts of war and restored by 1946. From 1946 the grammar school was continued as a state federal high school.
