The Härtsfeldsee , actually the Egautal flood retention basin , is a small lake near Dischingen on the Härtsfeld . It has a water surface of approx. 11.5 ha and was built in 1972 as a flood retention basin by the Egau water association.
The route of the disused Härtsfeldbahn runs past the lake. A section of the railway line ending at Härtsfeldsee is currently being rebuilt as a museum railway.
Since 1997 the rock festival Rock am Härtsfeldsee has taken place annually at the lake .
The Härtsfeldsee has a maximum depth of 4.20 meters. The lake has two islands that are mainly used as breeding grounds by the animals of the lake. Both islands are not allowed to be entered by humans.
