from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hati (also Hate , Old Norse for: "hate" or "enemy") is a wolf in Norse mythology who chases the moon .

According to the Edda, he is descended from Fenrir (the Fenriswolf ) and the giantess Gyge, who gave birth to him in the Jarnwid forest. His twin brother Skalli follows the sun . Hati chases the chariot of the moon god Mani across the sky and drives the moon to a hurry. On the day of the end of the world ( Ragnarök ) the wolves will catch up with the hunted and pack them. The moon dog Managarm will devour the moon, the splashed blood will darken the sun.
