career
Tapia first played for the capital club Cruz Azul , before he was active in the league round of the 1978/79 season for the promoted Coyotes Neza . For the Liguillas of the same season he was again in the squad of the Cementeros and was part of the squad of the championship team that won the Mexican football championship that season . The two following seasons Tapia spent in full length with the Coyotes, who were able to qualify for the Liguillas in both 1980 and 1981, but each failed in the quarterfinals.
Then Tapia moved to Club America , with whom he won another championship title in the 1983/84 season .
After he moved to Club Necaxa for the 1984/85 season , he left the capital region for the first time in the 1985/86 season to play for Atlético Potosino . He spent his last first division season in 1988/89 with CD Irapuato .
