Hotel d'Albret
The Hôtel d'Albret is a Hôtel particulier in the 4th arrondissement of Paris . The building, built in the 17th century, is located at 31 rue des Francs-Bourgeois. The Hôtel d'Albret has been a listed building ( Monument historique ) since 1889 .
history
The oldest parts of the Hôtel d'Albret date from 1635 to 1650. They were possibly built according to plans by the architect François Mansart . The client was Gabriel de Guénégaud, Seigneur du Plessis-Belleville and high dignitary of the Ancien Régime , who bequeathed the building to his son-in-law César d'Albret. The Hôtel particulier, which is also erroneously referred to as the Hôtel Jeanne d'Albret , is named after him . The current street facade was redesigned between 1740 and 1744 under the owner Charles du Tillet by the architect Jean-Baptiste Vautrin. The wood carvings of the portal are by Jean-Baptiste Martin. The interior of the Hôtel Jeanne d'Albret was removed during the 19th century.
The city of Paris bought the Hôtel d'Albret in 1975, which after extensive renovation now houses the offices of the Direction des Affaires culturelles de la Ville .
