Chicken leather ( French canepin ) is a white-gray, thin and fine leather made from the skins of young sheep and goats .

Chicken leather is used to make the finest women's gloves . It is also used as a seat insert in the trousers of racing cyclists.

Chicken leather, which is actually made from the skin of domestic chicken , has so far only existed as a niche product. The arrangement of the springs gives the leather a unique structure. Also common is chicken leg leather , which is made from the skin of the animal's feet.
