The bouncy mite ( Lebertia insignis ) is a species from the group of freshwater mites (Hydrachnidiae).
The animals are yellowish-red to red in color and have a very smooth, unarmored skin. The hind legs are noticeably elongated and, like all other legs, have swimming hair groups. The palps have a noticeable protruding bristle on the inside.
The bouncy mites live in stagnant water and are widespread, and even very common in some lakes.
