The Hürben moated castle represents the former administrative seat of the once independent village and today's district of Krumbach in Swabia in the Free State of Bavaria .

history

In the first half of the 14th century, Hürben was the seat of the Lords of Reichenbach. Subsequently, many genders changed rule Hürben, for example the Margraves von Berg, Georg von Puchheim, Puppelin von Ellerbach, Hans von Stadion, Ritter von Freyberg zu Neuenstreusslingen, Hans von Stein, Hans von Knöringen, Georg von Freyberg zu Hürben, Dietgen von Wetterstein, Hans Lamparter von Greifenstein, Johann Baptist Weber zum Pinsenberg, Count von Lichtenstein-Kastelkorno and many others

The core of the three-story saddle roof building , a half-timbered construction , was built around 1478 (?). Originally, a moated castle with a moat can be assumed. The current appearance with the massive support pillars arranged all around above the two basement floors, the relatively small rooms and the restored facade painting was created between 1780 and 1786. The reason for this redesign, for which the Wettenhausen master builder Joseph Dossenberger submitted plans, were obviously static problems.

Today is Hürbener surge folk music information center of the region of Swabia housed.
