Smelter in a nickel smelter

A smelter is a craftsman who uses liquid materials to make tools , weapons or glass goods. There were specialized melters for glass and metal. The profession of ironworker in the glass or ironworks developed from this profession .

There were already smelters in ancient Egypt who cast weapons, tools and statues from bronze .

There are several pictures with the smelter's coat of arms on the Internet (crossed ironworks, scraper or fork and shovel)

The official job title in Germany is Metallschmelzer / in .

In Austria the official job title is Former / in und Gießer / in .
