Life

Nakamura, a graduate of Nagasaki University , has worked for the prefecture administration since his senior year 1973, most recently since 2009 as lieutenant governor under Genjirō Kaneko . When Kaneko did not run for another term in 2010, Nakamura applied in the election on February 21, 2010 for his successor. With a turnout of 60%, he was able to prevail against Tsuyoshi Hashimoto (supported by the nationally ruling Democratic Party ) and five other candidates. He took office on March 2, 2010.

In the 2014 gubernatorial election , Nakamura was clearly confirmed for a second term in office with the support of both major parties against the communist Toshihiko Haraguchi.
