HDRi
The HDRi data format is a 64-bit or 32-bit data format developed by LaserSoft Imaging for storing the raw data of an HDR scan including infrared data.
Data format
format | Coding | Compression | Color space | Color depth (bits per pixel) |
Dynamic range (orders of magnitude of 10) |
Relative gradation |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
HDRi (.tif, .tiff) |
RGB (linear) | no | RGB | 64 = 48 + 16 (infrared channel) | 4.8 | 0.0014% |
RGB (linear) | no | RGB | 32 = 16 + 16 (infrared channel) | 4.8 | 0.0014% |
description
Some scanners , especially film scanners, have an additional infrared channel. The data that this determines when scanning can be used for image optimization, e.g. B. for dust and scratch removal . In the HDRi data format, this infrared data is saved as raw data with the other raw image data. For each color channel 16 bits per pixel and an additional 16 bits per pixel are used for the data of the infrared channel; an HDRi color file uses 64 bits per pixel and an HDRi grayscale file uses 32 bits per pixel.
application
Since the infrared raw data are saved with the raw image data without loss, it is not necessary to process them during the scan. This supports the quick scanning of larger stocks. The originals archived in this way can, under certain circumstances, be post-processed at a later point in time in batch mode with dust and scratches removed.
