The LaserSoft Imaging AG is a manufacturer of scanners - and digital camera software. The company is based in Kiel and has a branch in Sarasota , Florida .

history

The company was founded in 1986 by the physicist and current chairman of the board, Karl-Heinz Zahorsky. The company's early focus was on image processing on the Apple Macintosh and products such as video digitizers, including Pixelogic's “ProViz” and Truvel's “TrueScan”, the first professional color scanner for the Macintosh, which was first shown at the 1988 CeBIT Hanover trade fair .

In 1991 LaserSoft Imaging was registered as a GmbH and moved into a large repro company to promote the integration of color reproduction on the desktop and the connection of the Chromacom systems to the Macintosh.

With RipLink, the company presented a system to connect repro systems such as Hell , Scitex and Crosfield with the Macintosh. The distribution of flatbed scanners was the beginning of the development of high-end scanners on the desktop. The company advised Leaf, Canon , Sony , Seiko and others on the subject of high-end desktop color and promoted the further development of Photone- PrePress . In 1994 the company began developing SilverFast , the first version of which was presented at CeBIT 1995. The company has also developed high-end scanning software for all known scanners under Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, Vista. The Heidelberg high-end scanners Topaz, Tango, Nexscan and Chromagraph (3300 and 3400) can also be operated with this software on current operating systems.

In 2001 the company was converted to a stock corporation . The shares are 100% owned by the founder.

In 2009, Fogra LaserSoft Imagings certified IT8 targets and the SilverFast color management system for full compliance with ISO standard 12641 . The HDRi raw data format was also developed in 2009 . In addition to the conventional raw data with the additional data of the infrared channel, it contains all readable image information for later image processing.

The company has implemented some common scanning and image processing techniques over time. These include a .:

  • Multi-exposure (with auto-alignment, patent no .: EP 1744278)
  • Auto-IT8 calibration (patent no .: EP 1594301)
  • ScanPilot
  • ICC printer calibration
  • GANE ® (elimination of image disturbances from film grain & color noise with fine correction)
  • HiRePP ® (High Resolution Picture Performance)
  • NegaFix ® (negative to true-to-color positive)
  • PhotoProof ® (print out true color without rip)
  • PrinTao ® (direct printing of all images with image processing and layout functions)
  • SC2G ® (selective color to gray)
  • SCC ® (selective color correction)
  • SRD ® (dust and scratch removal)
  • iSRD ® (dust and scratch removal with infrared technology)
  • Auto-frame detection & auto-frame alignment (for flatbed scanners)
  • HDRi (64Bit / 32Bit raw data format with infrared channel data)
