The HVDC Zurich-Wettingen was a 1939 from Brown, Boveri & Cie. Experimental high-voltage direct current transmission line (HVDC) built for the Swiss National Exhibition , which could transmit a power of up to 500 kW at a voltage of 50 kV. The HVDC Zurich-Wettingen was a monopolar (single-pole) line that used the earth as a return conductor. One of the mercury vapor rectifiers used at the time is now in the Deutsches Museum in Munich .
