The HK Kasachmys Satpajew ( Russian ХК Казахмыс Сатпаев ) was an ice hockey club from the Kazakh town of Satbayev . The club was founded in 2002 and took part in the Kazakh championship until 2011 . From the beginning of the 2003/04 season until the summer of 2008, the team also played as one of four non-Russian teams in the Wysschaja Liga , the second highest Russian division.
The Kazakh mining company Kazakhmys , based in London, UK , acted as sponsor .
history
The resident of the zentralkasachischen Satbayev club was established in 2002 Karaganda founded and played first in the third highest Russian league under the name Kasachmys Karaganda. In the first year he was promoted to the Wysschaya League. However, the team celebrated the greatest success in Kazakhstan by winning the double in the 2005/06 season. In the summer of 2006, the team moved to Sätbajew and repeated the cup win from the previous year in the 2006/07 season.
By the national successes of the club took place in the years 2003/04 and 2006/07 at the IIHF Continental Cup in part, but failed once in the first and once in the third round.
The second team played in the Pervaya League until January 2008 and was also entitled to participate in the Kazakh Championship.
In 2011, the club stopped playing.
