HLTV

The abbreviation HLTV stands for Half-Life Television , a computer program from the game developer Valve . It enables viewers to interactively attend the game without having to access the slots (space for players) on a server or being able to participate directly in the game.

history

The HLTV server was developed by Valve in 2001. HLTV servers are used particularly frequently in the game Counter-Strike (1.6, Source , today Counter-Strike: Global Offensive ), with all games of the Half-Life-Engine ( GoldSrc ) and Half-Life-2-Engine ( Source Engine ) are supported. During a game you can watch the game on a server, live or with a preset delay. Completely independent of which player or which team you want to watch. This is, so to speak, a live TV transmission for the game server , with delays of 90 to 120 seconds being selected for the transmission in order to prevent indirect influence on the game.
