HMS Agamemnon
Five ships of the British Royal Navy were named HMS Agamemnon after Agamemnon , King of Mycenae , a main character in Homer's Iliad
- The first HMS Agamemnon was a battleship third rank of Ardent class , 1793-1796 of 64 cannons, which ran in 1781 staple Horatio Nelson was commanded and 1809 in the mouth of the Río de la Plata was lost by stranding.
- The second HMS Agamemnon was a second class ship of the line with 91 cannons and screw propulsion, launched in 1852 and sold for scrapping in 1870.
- The third HMS Agamemnon was an Ajax- class ship of the line launched in 1879 and decommissioned in 1903.
- The fourth HMS Agamemnon was a Lord Nelson- class ship of the line launched in 1906 and sold for scrapping in 1927.
- The Fifth HMS Agamemnon will be an Astute- class submarine .
