- HMS Defense (1907) , launched in 1907, was an armored cruiser that was sunk during the Battle of the Skagerrak on May 31, 1916.
- HMS Defense (1945) , launched in 1945, was a light cruiser . Work on it was interrupted until 1954, and in 1957 it was renamed HMS Lion (C34) .
