HMS Dragon
HMS Dragon was the name of several ships in the Royal Navy, derived from the English word for dragon (mythology) :
- The first Dragon was a frigate of the fourth class with 38 guns, which in 1647 was launched, was rebuilt in 1690 and 1707 and went 1711 lost by stranding.
- The second Dragon , a 50-gun ship of the line , was launched under the name HMS Ormonde , was renamed HMS Dragon in 1715 and scrapped in 1733.
- The third Dragon was a ship of the line with 60 guns, launched in 1736 and sunk as a breakwater in 1757 .
- The fourth Dragon , a 74-gun ship of the Bellona-class , was launched in 1760 and was sold 1784th
- The fifth HMS Dragon was another two-decker with 74 guns, which was in service from 1798 to 1815, renamed to HMS Fame in 1842 , used as a residential ship and scrapped in 1850.
- The sixth HMS Dragon was a six-gun screw sloop launched in 1878 and sold in 1892.
- The seventh HMS Dragon , a torpedo boat destroyer of Banshee class , ran 1894 from the pile and was sold 1912th
- The eighth HMS Dragon (D46) was a Danae-class light cruiser that was commissioned in 1918, handed over to the Polish Navy in 1943 and sunk as a breakwater in 1944 after being torpedoed by a Negro in front of Mulberry harbor .
- The ninth HMS Dragon (D35) is a Daring- class destroyer launched in November 2008 and entered service on April 20, 2012.
