HMS Essex

Five ships of the British Navy were named HMS Essex , after the British county of Essex .

  • The third HMS Essex (1760) was a third class ship of the line with 64 guns, launched in 1760 and sold in 1799.
  • The fourth HMS Essex was the American frigate USS Essex (1799) , which after its conquest in the Royal Navy in 1814 was sold for scrapping in 1837.
