HMS Euryalus
Six ships of the Royal Navy have so far been named HMS Euryalus , named after Euryalus (son of Mekisteus) , one of the Argonauts from Greek mythology :
- The first HMS Euryalus was a frigate launched in 1803. She participated in the Battle of Trafalgar in part and served there after the death of Nelson as a flagship of Collingwood .
- The second HMS Euryalus was a wooden screw frigate with 35 guns built in Chatham in 1853.
- The third HMS Euryalus was an iron screw corvette of the Bacchante class that was launched in 1877 and sold for scrapping in 1897.
- The fourth HMS Euryalus which was launched in 1901, was a battleship of Cressy class , which in World War I before the Dardanelles was used and scrapped the 1920s.
- The fifth HMS Euryalus was a Dido-class light cruiser that was launched in 1939, damaged in World War II in the second naval battle in the Gulf of Syrte and scrapped in 1959.
- The sixth HMS Euryalus was a Leander-class frigate built in 1963. The ship was scrapped in 1990.
