HMS Garland
Fifteen warships of the British Royal Navy were named HMS Garland . The name goes back to a ship from 1242 and is the oldest confirmed ship name in the Royal Navy.
- The first HMS Garland was a 38/48 gun galleon that was built in 1590 and sank in 1618.
- The second HMS Garland was launched in 1620 and was captured by the Dutch in the sea battle at Dungeness in 1652 .
- The third HMS Garland was originally named HMS Grantham , was renamed HMS Garland in 1660 , classified as a Brander in 1688 , converted into a frigate in 1689 and sold in 1698.
