Bert Schenk (born November 14, 1970 in Berlin ) is a former German boxer and former world champion of the WBO middleweight division.
amateur
Bert Schenk became German light middleweight champion in 1992 and German middleweight runner-up in 1993.
He took part in the Junior World Championship in Havana in 1987 and was eliminated there in the quarterfinals of the light welterweight division. At the European Championships in 1993 in Bursa , he finished third. At the 1994 World Cup in Bangkok , he defeated Ariel Hernández in the quarterfinals and finished second. In the same year he also won the middleweight division at the Chemistry Cup in Halle , where he managed, among other things, a victory over the Russian Alexander Lebsjak .
Professional career
In February 1996 Schenk made his professional debut. In 1997 he secured the German championship title. He was in a lot of trouble because of his unprofessional lifestyle, his coaches Dietmar Schnieber and Gerhard Dieter left him, he was eventually looked after by Torsten Schmitz .
In his 22nd professional fight, he won the vacant middleweight world title of the WBO on January 30, 1999 against Freeman Barr . However, the WBO was not yet one of the major associations at that time. After defending his title, however, the title was revoked because he was unable to fight for a long time due to a ruptured Achilles tendon . After his return to the ring, he got another title chance against his successor Armand Krajnc , but lost through tKo in the sixth round.
He won his next fights and was scheduled for another fight for the WBO title in 2003. However, he then tore the biceps tendon in his right arm during training and had to cancel due to an injury. Felix Sturm replaced him and won the title.
After Sturm lost his belt to Óscar de la Hoya , his stable mate Schenk was turned against him. Schenk was now regarded by his promoter Universum as having no perspective due to his age. In the fight on March 5, 2005 he was knocked out in the second round and then ended his career.
Schenk later worked as a caretaker.

Individual evidence
- ↑ Joshua's compatriot owned the belts of WBA, IBF and WBC, at that time the WBO was not yet part of the illustrious circle. She has only been there since 2007. Since then, the undisputed champion has had four titles.
