Several ships of the British Royal Navy were named HMS Majestic (English for majestic )

  • The first HMS Majestic was a third class ship of the line with 74 guns launched in 1785, u. a. took part in the naval battle of Abukir in 1798, was converted into a heavy frigate with 56 cannons by removing a deck ( Razee ) in 1814 and was lost in 1816 by stranding.
  • The second HMS Majestic was a second class ship of the line with screw drive and 80 guns, launched in 1853 and scrapped in 1868.
  • The third HMS Majestic was a ship of the line that was launched in 1895 and gave its name to the Majestic class . It was sunk in 1915 near the Dardanelles by the German submarine U 21 .
  • The fourth HMS Majestic was a light aircraft carrier that was launched in 1945 and in turn gave its name to a Majestic class . Completion was canceled in 1946, but the ship was later handed over to the Royal Australian Navy , put into service there in 1949 and renamed HMAS Melbourne in 1955 . It was decommissioned in 1982 and scrapped in China in 1985.
