HMS Roebuck
(HMS) Roebuck is the name of 14 ships of the English, later British Navy ( Royal Navy ), named after the English word for roebuck :
- The first Roebuck was bought in 1585.
- The second Roebuck was a 10-gun ship that was launched in 1636 and sank after a collision in 1641.
- The third Roebuck was captured in 1646 and entered service by the Royal Navy two years later. Captured by the parliamentary party in the English Civil War in 1649 , it was sold in 1651.
- The fourth Roebuck , a 34-gun ship captured in 1653, was converted to the Hulk in 1664 and sold in 1668.
- The fifth Roebuck was a sixth rank ship with 16 guns launched in 1666 and sold in 1683.
- The sixth Roebuck was a 6-gun Brander that was purchased in 1688, renamed HMS Old Roebuck in 1690 , and sunk itself in 1696.
- The seventh Roebuck , an 8-gun Brander launched in 1690, was converted into a 5th rank ship with 26 guns, sailed to Australia under William Dampier in 1699 and sank in 1701 on the return voyage off Ascension .
- The eighth Roebuck was a 42-gun ship of the 5th rank, which was launched in 1704, completely rebuilt in 1722 and sunk as a breakwater in 1743 .
- The ninth Roebuck , a 5th rank ship with 44 cannons, was launched in 1743 and sold in 1764.
- The tenth HMS Roebuck was a 44-cannon frigate launched in 1774 , converted into a hospital ship in 1790 , a troop transporter in 1799 and a guard ship in 1803 , and finally scrapped in 1811 .
- The eleventh HMS Roebuck was a wooden screw-cannon steamer that was launched in 1856 and sold in 1864.
- The twelfth HMS Roebuck , a 1901 overflowed from the stack destroyer of Greyhound class , was in the First World War, used and scrapped 1919th
- The thirteenth HMS Roebuck , an R-class destroyer that entered service in 1942 and was used during World War II , was converted into a frigate in 1953 and sold in 1968.
- The fourteenth HMS Roebuck is a survey ship that has been in service since 1985.
