The HSBC Bank A.Ş. is the Turkish subsidiary of HSBC and the fifth largest bank in Turkey.
history
HSBC Bank A.Ş. was founded in 1990 as a subsidiary of HSBC in Turkey .
At the end of the 1990s, Demirbank TAS ran into financial problems during the crisis in the Turkish banking system and came under state supervision after being rescued from public funds. In October 2001, HSBC acquired Demirbank TAS, making it the fifth largest private bank in Turkey.
On November 20, 2003 , HSBC Bank headquarters in the Levent district of Istanbul was the target of a series of bomb attacks. There were 3 fatalities and 43 injured among the employees of the bank.
On August 8, 2002 , HSBC Bank A.Ş. an agreement to acquire Benkar Tuketici Finansmani ve Kart Hizmetleri A.Ş. ( Installment credit and card services). The acquisition was implemented on August 19, 2002.
