Haas Automation is a Californian manufacturer of machine tools and one of the largest companies in the sector in the United States. In terms of the number of machine units sold, Haas Automation is one of the largest machine tool manufacturers in the world. Over 13,500 machines were sold in the 2017 financial year.

Haas Automation was founded in 1983 by Gene Haas . At the beginning only accessories and subassemblies for machine tool construction were manufactured. In 1988 the company entered machine manufacturing. This year Haas introduced the VF-1 vertical machining center at the International Machine Tool Show. The development of the VF-1 took place from 1987. The first VF-1 was on sale for less than $ 50,000, and the upgraded VF-1 is now also sold for under $ 50,000. Haas machining centers and lathes are manufactured entirely at the company's headquarters in Oxnard , where over 100,000 square meters are used by the company.
