List of preserved objects from the Musaeum Tradescantianum
The list of preserved objects from the Musaeum Tradescantianum is a list of today existing in various museums exhibits of the early 17th century in London by John Tradescant the Elder founded and by his son John Tradescant the Younger to closure in 1661 continuing Musaeum Tradescantianum . His collection included various kinds of rarities, especially from nature, but also clothing, everyday objects, weapons, coins and medals from numerous countries. The entire collection passed into the hands of Elias Ashmole after the younger Tradescant's death and formed the basis of the Ashmolean Museum . Most of the exhibits have been lost over time. In 1983, Arthur MacGregor's master's thesis was the first attempt at a complete inventory of the pieces from the founding holdings of the Ashmolean Museum that have survived to this day. Most of the objects found originally came from the Musaeum Tradescantianum .
The list contains mainly collection items that were already included in the catalog Musæum Tradescantianum: Or, A Collection of Rarities Preserved at South-Lambeth neer London by John Tradescant , published by John Tradescant the Younger with the support of Elias Ashmole and Thomas Wharton in 1656 . Other objects were listed in the 1685 unpublished catalog of the Ashmolean Museum with a reference to their origin. For all objects, if available, the name from the catalog from 1656, the number in the catalog from 1983, their current location, and for artificial objects also the origin. The indications of origin correspond to the current state of research and are based on the evaluation of historical sources, comparisons with similar pieces and material analyzes. In many cases, they do not correspond to the information in the old catalogs.

Coins and medals
The assignment of the coins and medals to the Musaeum Tradescantianum is difficult for several reasons. First of all, the information in the catalog of the Musaeum Tradescantianum from 1656 is very imprecise. Coins from the collection may have been lost before the Ashmolean Museum opened. On the other hand, Elias Ashmole collected coins himself, and coins and medals from a large number of collections reached the Ashmolean Museum, until 1833 only with incomplete cataloging.
