Way of life

The adult parasitic wasps of Habrocampulum biguttatum appear from the beginning of June. They usually roam across meadows near the forest. The hind legs hanging down during flight are characteristic of the parasitic wasps. Habrocampulum biguttatum is one of the most important parasitoids of the pine moth ( Bupalus piniaria ). Habrocampulum biguttatum is a coinobiont endoparasitoid. The female parasitic wasp stings with their ovipositor an egg in the caterpillar . The parasitic wasp larva develops in the host. This lives on until it pupates . The parasitic wasp larva pupates in the host and leaves the host pupa as an adult parasitic wasp.
