Hachette Book Group
The Hachette Book Group is a US- based publishing group . It is wholly owned by Hachette Livre , the largest French publishing house , which in turn belongs to the Groupe Lagardère group. The Hachette Book Group was formed when Hachette Livre took over the Time Warner Book Group from Time Warner in 2006 .
history
The oldest publisher that is now part of the Hachette Book Group is Little, Brown and Company . It was founded in 1837 and bought out by the media company Time Inc. in 1968 . This merged with Warner Communications in 1989 to form Time Warner . In 1970, Warner acquired the Paperback Library publishing house and founded Warner Books. In 1996 the aforementioned publishers were merged to form Time Warner Trade Publishing and finally renamed the Time Warner Book Group. After the takeover by Hachette Livre, the company was renamed the Hachette Book Group again in 2006. Today (as of 2010) the publishing group operates numerous imprints and continues to use the Little, Brown and Company brand , among others . The largest imprint, however, is Grand Central Publishing, which emerged from Warner Books, which divides its program into smaller segments by means of further imprints.
Offices
The Hachette Book Group is headquartered in New York City . The publishing group has additional offices in Boston (Massachusetts) and Nashville (Tennessee). The distribution center is located in Lebanon, Indiana .
