Hachikokuyama

Hachikokuyama ( Japanese 八 国 山 緑地 , Hachikokuyama-ryokuchi ) is a park in Japan , which is largely located in the city of Higashimurayama (Tokyo prefecture), but also partly in the administrative area of ​​the city of Tokorozawa (Saitama prefecture).

He served as a model for parts of the Japanese cartoon film My Neighbor Totoro and gained a certain fame as a result. In Japanese it is classified as ryokuchi (緑地). Ryokuchi literally means "grassland" and usually describes natural land, in contrast to a typical park.

The park has a size of about 39 hectares .
