Haddam Meadows State Park is a state park in the US state of Connecticut in the area of Haddam Township . It offers picnicking, fishing, and boating on the Connecticut River .
history
The fertile floodplain was originally an important agricultural area and was partly used like a common land. It was later used for passenger shipping and trade on the Connecticut River before it was converted into a state park in 1944 through a gift from the Hazen Foundation .
geography
The park is bounded in the north by Kriegers Brook and the Connecticut River, and in the east by Mill Creek . Saybrook Road (154) runs south . Directly adjacent is Haddam Island State Park on an island further north in the Connecticut River.
