The Queen Elizabeth II Quay ( English Port of Freetown ) with the Queen Elizabeth II Quay is a seaport in the Sierra Leonean capital of Freetown . It is the largest port in the country in terms of area and the third largest natural port in the world. It is operated by the Sierra Leone Ports Authority .

The port, located on the south coast of the Sierra Leone River in Fourah Bay , allows ships with a maximum draft of 11.90 meters. The port has various facilities, including four warehouses, an oil terminal with tank farms for gas oil, petrol and bioethanol, container spaces and handling facilities. The port offers six berths and a storage area of ​​31,000 square meters . Only two berths with a length of 722 meters are actively used.

In November 2011, the operation of the container port was transferred to the company Bolloré Africa Logistics for 25 years. The port has been massively expanded by the operator for 130 million US dollars since 2016.

Economical meaning
