After completing school, she began working as a journalist for the Burundian state broadcaster from 1987 to 1990, and from 1990 to 1993 she headed the station's Swahili department. From 1993 to 1997 Mossi worked as a freelance journalist for the South African Broadcasting Corporation, the BBC and Deutsche Welle. South African television station Channel Africa to work. In 1998 Mossi moved to London to work for the BBC's Swahili service . She returned to her home country in 2005.

Pierre Nkurunziza , President of Burundi, appointed Mossi to his Council of Ministers in 2005. Until 2007 she headed the department for information and communication and was also the spokeswoman for the state government. From 2009 to 2011 she was again part of the Nkurunziza government, during which time she headed the regional integration department. In 2012 she was elected to the joint East African Legislative Assembly .

As part of the Burundian state crisis that began in April 2015 , Mossi was shot to death on July 13, 2016 while leaving her home by two men who escaped unrecognized in a car. President Pierre Nkurunziza called the act a "political murder". At the time, several high-ranking military officials had already been shot as part of the crisis, but civilian politicians were not. Political observers were also puzzled by the murder, as Mossi was not considered a hardliner or a favorite of the CNDD-FDD state party.
