Haiganouche mark

Haiganouche Mark ( Armenian Հայկանուշ Մառք , scientific transliteration Haykanuš Maṙk '; * 1883 in Constantinople , † 1966 in Istanbul ) was an Armenian suffragette, teacher, journalist and writer.

Mark graduated from Esayan High School in Constantinople in 1898. She worked as a teacher in the Armenian schools in Constantinople. Mark founded the feminist magazine Tsaghik Ganants (published 1905–1907). After her marriage in 1907 with the editor Vahan Toshigian, she lived in Smyrna . In Toshigian's magazine Arshaluys she wrote the women's page. In 1919 she started her own feminist newspaper Hay Gin (Հայ Կին; published 1919–1932, publication prohibited). Most of her writings can be found in the newspapers mentioned.
