history

The Allmann was founded in Hinwil in 1852 as the first forerunner of the Zürcher Oberland . It was in 1870 from that of liberals assumed erected AG Buchdruckerei Wetzikon AG, which it in The Liberals renamed. In 1960 he took over the Volksblatt vom Bachtel and in 1961 renamed the newspaper Zürcher Oberländer . Further takeovers were made in 1972 with the daily newspaper of the Pfäffikon district and in 1997, after a first unsuccessful attempt in 1991, with the Anzeiger von Uster , which was integrated into the Zürcher Oberland as a header . This achieved a leading position in the districts of Hinwil, Pfäffikon and Uster. The paper has been published as a daily newspaper since 1912. Well-known editors-in-chief were Karl Eckinger (1943–1972, † 1983), President of the Conference of Liberal Democratic Editors of the Canton of Zurich, as well as the National Council and Zurich FDP President Oscar Fritschi (1972–2004).

Participation of the NZZ

Distribution area of the Zurich Oberland

In 2005, FPH Freie Presse Holding, a subsidiary of Neue Zürcher Zeitung , took over a 40% stake in Akeret Druck und Verlag AG (Zürcher Unterländer) against the assignment of 11% of its share capital and the transfer of NZZ's advertising marketing from Publigroupe and a 20% share in Zürichsee Presse AG ( Zürichsee-Zeitung ) , then from an asset manager also 38% in Zürcher Oberland Medien AG (until 1998 Druckerei Wetzikon AG), the publisher of the Zürcher Oberlander . The remainder of the share capital of Zürcher Oberland Medien AG is spread among around 600 small shareholders, with which FPH de facto gained control of the company.

In order to facilitate the exchange of articles and entire pages, the layout of the three regional newspapers Zürcher Oberländer (with Uster's Anzeiger ), Zürcher Unterländer and Zürichsee-Zeitung (with Linth Zeitung and Sihltaler ) has been standardized, and the newspaper titles have been modernized.

In 2006 the three regional newspapers founded Zürich Land Medien AG, which produced the cover pages for the Zürichsee-Zeitung as well as for the Zürcher Oberländer , the Anzeiger von Uster and the Zürcher Unterländer and in 2008 together with the AZ Medien ( Mittelland-Zeitung , today az Northwestern Switzerland ), the publisher Meier + Cie ( Schaffhauser Nachrichten ) and the Southeast Switzerland , the (now resold) news portal news1.ch launched.

Participation of the Tages-Anzeiger

In 2010, Tamedia took over the Gut family's 60% stake in the Zürichsee-Zeitung . Then Tamedia and FPH Freie Presse Holding exchanged stakes : Tamedia gave FPH its 100% stake in Thurgauer Zeitung and in return took over FPH's 38% stake in Zürcher Oberländer (and the shares in of Zürich Land Medien AG) and the 100% stake in Zürcher Unterländer as well as the remaining stake in Zürichsee-Zeitung, which has meanwhile increased to 40% . Together with the Winterthurer Landbote , in which Tamedia had held a 20% minority stake since 2005, it formed the network of “Zürcher Regionalzeitungen”, in which the advertising business of the four newspapers was bundled. The Landbote took from 2011 the production of the shell sides. Tamedia canceled the contract at the end of 2013, after which it was able to take over the Landbote entirely at the end of August 2013 . The production of the cover pages was transferred to the Berner Zeitung from 2014 . The Zürcher regional newspapers continue to run as independent titles to this day.
