The Hainfelder Hütte is a refuge on the summit of the 924 meter high Kirchenberg in the Lower Austrian town of Hainfeld and on the border with Kleinzell . It offers space for 40 people in the hut and 70 in the guest garden and is open all year round on weekends and public holidays.

history

The first hut construction on the Kirchenberg took place in 1915 by the Hainfeld section of the ÖTK, founded in 1913 . This small hut with around 15 m² offered space for about 8 people and was built under an existing observation tower. From 1924/1925 a new building with around 65 m² and seating for 30 guests was built, which was opened on September 13, 1925 by ÖTK President Franz Matras with Section Chairman Sepp Neubauer. The hut was badly damaged in the course of the Second World War. After the war, the hut was repaired or rebuilt and continuously expanded in the following years. Since the middle of 1955 the management of members took place and only on weekends and holidays, after it was previously managed continuously by tenants. In the 1960s, the access road was expanded so that the hut could be supplied by off-road vehicles. In 1999 the hut was connected to the public electricity network of EVN . Due to sanitary problems, inadequate technical equipment, lack of space and various construction defects at the war-damaged refuge, the club's management decided to build a new building in 2005. This was realized from May in the same year and opened on September 25, 2005. During this new construction, the hut was also connected to the public sewer and water supply network.
