Halberstadt B types

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Halberstadt B-types of the Halberstädter Flugzeugwerke were two-seat unarmed reconnaissance and training aircraft of the German air forces in the First World War .

history

In 1914 Halberstadt developed a double-decker with the Oberursel -Gnôme U O- rotary engine with 80 HP output, which was called "Halberstadt BI" and was given the factory designation A15. The aircraft was converted as "Halberstadt B.II" (B15) to the in-line engine Mercedes D I with 105 hp and produced in 1915 as "Halberstadt B.III" with the slightly more powerful Mercedes D II (120 hp).

The Halberstadt B.II was used as the base for the first armed two-seater ( Halberstadt C.II ).

commitment

The BI was used as a trainer aircraft; B.II and B.III served briefly as reconnaissance aircraft, but were then also used for pilot training.
